More arrests for illegal DVD’s

Pirated DVD’s. The police have made more arrests in downtown Kingston as they continue their clampdown on the sale of bootleg DVDs. Four men were taken into custody during an operation carried out on Orange Street on Monday.

It is alleged that they were held with more than 1,000 pirated DVDs.

Deputy Superintendent Conroy Reid of the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) said the men have been charged with breaches of the Copyright Act.

Five men were arrested for similar offences during two raids carried out in downtown Kingston last week.

Two were given heavy fines when they pleaded guilty in court on Monday.

Two Ghanaians who were nabbed during an operation carried out on Thursday are scheduled to appear on court on Tuesday.
