The long awaited release of Jah cure that many have hoped and prayed for finally came to reality this past July. Born Siccature Alcock, Jah Cure was released on parole from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Center after being incarcerated for the past eight years out of a fifteen year sentence on rape and gun robbery charges. According to BigUpRadio.com, “in November of 1998 while driving around Montego Bay with some friends, police pulled Cure over in front of Jimmy Buffet’s club Margaritaville. Ten Jamaican athletes will be representing us as, the nine days of intense athletics competition get going in Japan’s water capital, Osaka.
World 100-metre record-holder Asafa Powell will be seeking to win his first world gold medal, but also to become the first Jamaican sprinter to win in the 22-year history of the championships first staged 1983 in Helsinki.
Only Raymond Stewart (10.08secs) in 1987 and Powell’s MVP teammate Michael Frater (10.05secs) in 2005, have ever made it to the podium at the World Championships, they both won silver. Continue reading World Championship

An island nation, Jamaica offers a wealth of natural beauty. Ocho Rios, Jamaica, is home to some of the most well-known of the island’s natural wonders, including a glistening waterfall that attracts visitors from all over and the opportunity to swim with dolphins.
Dunn’s River Falls offers a hiking experience that allows even the decidedly non-athletic to enjoy a beautiful view of the 600 foot high waterfalls. However, while the 900 foot climb to the top may seem like a cake walk to the experienced hiker, for those not accustomed to activities, caution should be taken and children should be monitored carefully to avoid injury.
