New York: On Sunday, December 25, 2011, New York based Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB) will hold its annual Christmas Party at Nakasaki Restaurant in Hempstead New York. The party is a perfect celebratory close-out for TJB as it marks a banner year filled with many noteworthy accomplishments.
The 2011 Christmas Party is also a fundraiser for the organization which relies totally on donors and fundraising events to finance its annual operations. Friends, supporters and well wishers are being asked to give generously to the cause.
“2011 continues to be a significant and successful year for the organization” says Irwine Clare, Snr. CEO & Founder. “We kicked off 2011 with a bang and will close on a high note. Jamaica’s Ambassador to Washington, The Honorable Audrey M. Marks was our honored guest at this year’s Penn Relays. We also honored Five-Time Olympian Donald Quarrie, CD; at our Penn Relays launch— a successful event which attracted hundreds of supporters.
This year we hosted our largest contingent at the 2011 Penn Relays, numbering approximately 750 athletes and coaches. We also welcomed and hosted the contingent from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to their first Penn Relays and were honored with a visit from their Ambassador La Celia A. Prince. And we just closed out the year with a very successful staging of our first 5K Run, which saw our top male and female winners gaining automatic entry to the Reggae Marathon in Jamaica and going on to do well.”
The organization’s plans for 2012, Jamaica’s 50th year of independence are impressive with the roster of activities being ramped up to reflect 5 decades of remarkable achievement in a year-long ode to the nation. Topping the list of ‘must do’ for the organization in 2012 is to significantly reduce the cost of travel and hotel accommodation for the athletes to the Penn Relays.
Team Jamaica Bickle is anticipating a full house at Nakasaki on Christmas Day after the dinner tables are cleared. Admission is $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door.
